DESTIN, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say a man is dead and a woman is missing after a boat carrying about a dozen people crashed into a rocky outcropping off the Florida Panhandle. Local media outlets report that emergency responders got a call early Friday morning that a 30-foot personal craft struck the East Jetty near Destin and capsized. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission reports that the U.S. Coast Guard, assisting agencies and good Samaritans rescued 10 people, four of whom were hospitalized. Officials were told that one woman was still missing, so an FWC dive team began to search the area. Divers found an unidentified man’s body, which led officials to question the number of passengers provided by witnesses. Officials weren’t immediately naming the victims or where they were from.
